Finding The Hideaway
To find The Hideaway, if coming from Hammondsport (south), drive north on Route 54 and look for the entrance on your right; if you reach Birdseye Hollow Rd, you've gone too far. From Penn Yan (north), head south on Route 54, pass Birdseye Hollow Rd, and The Hideaway will be on your left shortly after. Drive slowly as the entrance is set back in the woods and can be easy to miss. For best results, try to arrive during daylight hours.

Using the Front Door Smart Lock
Wake Up the Lock: Approach the door and press the Schlage button on the smart lock's keypad. This action illuminates the keypad.
Key In Your Code: Enter the access code we emailed. This is your personalized access code.
Unlock: Press the Schlage button again after entering your code. If you hear a beep and the lock disengages, turn the handle and enter. Welcome!
Locking Up: Simply close the door behind you and press the Schlage button on the keypad to lock the door. A beep will confirm that the door is locked.

Adjusting the Cabin’s Temperature
Power On: Press the power button to turn on the unit. You should see indicators on the unit or hear a beep confirming it's powered on.
Select Mode: Press the mode button to cycle through the available options (cooling, heating, fan, dry) until you reach your desired mode. Choose cooling for lowering the room temperature, heating to make it warmer, dry to remove humidity, or fan for simple air circulation without temperature change.
Set Temperature: Use the temperature adjustment buttons (+/-) to set your preferred temperature. For a comfortable environment, 68°F to 72°F (20°C to 22°C) is recommended for heating, and 72°F to 78°F (22°C to 26°C) for cooling.
Adjust Fan Speed: Press the fan speed button to select your desired airflow. Options typically include low, medium, high, or auto. The auto setting is often the best choice, as it adjusts the fan speed based on the current room temperature and the set temperature.

Using the Bedroom Wall Heaters / Fans
Turn On: Locate the main power switch on the heater and flip it to the "On" position to power up the heater.
Set Temperature: Use the "+" and "-" buttons on the heater or the remote control (if available) to adjust to your desired temperature.
Enjoy Warmth: The heater will maintain the room at your set temperature, automatically turning on and off as needed.
Turn Off: Press the power button to turn off the heater when not in use. For extended periods of non-use, also flip the main power switch to the "Off" position.

Grocery Stores
We provide essentials like coffee, tea, salt, pepper, toilet paper, paper towels, and cooking oil. With well water on-site, we recommend bringing bottled water. Stock up on groceries at Tops in Bath, ALDI in Penn Yan, or Wegmans in Corning. Enjoy your stay!

The Outdoor Tubs
To use the outdoor tubs at The Hideaway, first grab a black spa towel from the dresser near the main entrance. Fill the tub with water, adjust the temperature as desired. Enjoy your soak, and after finishing, drain the tub completely and leave it uncovered to dry. Hang dry towels for future uses or return used towels to the designated hamper in the downstairs bathroom closet.

How to use the Bidet
To use the Bidet at The Hideaway, remain seated after using the toilet and locate the control panel. Choose your desired function (e.g., rear wash), adjust the nozzle position, water pressure, and temperature. Activate the wash, use the drying function if needed, and finish by using only the provided septic-safe toilet paper to protect our eco-friendly septic system. Remember to turn off all functions prior to getting up off the seat. This bidet offers a hygienic experience and supports our sustainability efforts.

Using the Wine Fridge
To use the wine fridge in the upstairs loft lounge at The Hideaway, turn it on using the power button, set the temperature suitable for your wine type (45°F-65°F), and load your bottles horizontally to keep the corks moist. Use the light to view labels and the lock to secure your collection, if available. Regularly check and adjust the temperature as needed, and maintain the fridge by wiping it down with a damp cloth. This ensures your wine remains in perfect condition for enjoyment during your stay.

How to Use the Record Player
To use the Victrola record player in the Loft lounge at The Hideaway, first find the records in the top drawer of the cabinet beneath the player. Place your chosen record on the turntable and adjust the speed selector if needed. Gently lower the tonearm onto the record to start playing, and adjust the volume as desired. When finished, lift the tonearm, turn off the player, and store the record back in its sleeve in the drawer. Enjoy the vintage audio experience during your stay!

How to Find Games
To find games at The Hideaway, head to the Loft lounge upstairs and locate the wine fridge. The games are stored in the top two right drawers next to this fridge.
